Description

A fine and interesting collection of six dental pliers or forceps from the second half of the 17th century and the first half of 19th century.
The collection includes :
-An early forged iron dental forceps, circa 1650-1680 with a primitive shape, an unidentified hallmark (with the initial LE AN) and the letter “V” (12,5 cm lenght) ;
-A small size, probably for children, plier in high quality steel with the unknow French signature “Delin” at “Reims” with his hallmark. We can date it from the 18th century (13,4 cm lenght) ;
-A good 18th-century, unsigned but in high quality steel, dental forceps (17cm lenght).
-An hand-made iron 18th-century dental forceps made in two pieces without joint (13 cm lenght) ;
-A small size steel plier from circa 1800
-A Steel dental pliers by Chevalier, the first american systematic maker of dental instruments, established in New York, circa 1830.
