The Totem
, a playscript for marionettes in four scenes suggested by a legend of the Iroquois, 22 mimeographed pages, published by the National Play Bureau, Federal Theatre Project, Works Progress Administration, New York, circa 1937, bound in Play Bureau wraps (9 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches) with three staples along the left edge, in good overall condition (the pages are in excellent condition but the front cover is lightly soiled and has a few small tears along the right edge and the back cover is sunned along the bottom).
Ruth Fenisong (1904-1978) was a crime mystery writer who wrote 22 novels in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Thirteen of the books were in a series that focused on investigations by police detective Gridley Nelson. Prior to writing these novels in the late 1930s, Fenisong was employed by the Federal Theatre Project to write playscripts for marionettes in children's puppet theatre.
The Totem
was one of several puppet plays that she wrote.
Condition Notes:
The pages are in excellent condition, the front cover is lightly soiled and has a few small tears along the right edge, and the back cover is sunned along the bottom
