    Description

This is a rare Piano Selection sheet music printed and sold in England from the 1955
    motion picture version of the
RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy hit
"OKLAHOMA!" ..... Based on the groundbreaking Broadway musical which
opened March 31st, 1943 at New York's St. James Theatre and ran for 2212 performances, the film
starred SHIRLEY JONES (in her film debut) and GORDON MacRAE and featured GLORIA GRAHAME, GENE NELSON, CHARLOTTE GREENWOOD, ROD STEIGER, EDDIE ALBERT and JAMES WHITMORE.
Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein personally oversaw the film to prevent the studio from making changes of the kind that were then typical of stage-to-film musical adaptations — such as putting in new songs by different composers
..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS. (This was the first collaboration for Rodgers and Hammerstein who would go on to write "Carousel", "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Musical Arrangements by ROBERT RUSSELL BENNETT; Choreographed by AGNES de MILLE; Directed by FRED ZINNEMANN; Produced by ARTHUR HORNBLOW, Jr.
..... DETAILS: The oversized twelve page sheet music measures 8 5/8" X 11" inches and is copyrighted 1947 by Williamson Music Inc., New York City and
