Description
A very rare, late 18th/early 19th c. hand held gold scale by Freeman & Son, Leadenhall St, London, in its original case and accompanied by an unrelated box of gold weights. The only other example that I've been able to find of this scale resides in the Historical Dental Museum Collection of the Kornberg School of Dentistry located at Temple University. I believe this predates the Victorian era because noted on the label is '...by Freeman and Son in Leadenhall Street London. Scale maker to HIS Majesty's Mint Exchequer, Bank of England &c'.
